Brown's Chapel Cemetery, Vienna, VA was founded on October 25, 1887 and it was originally called the Colvin Run Burial Ground, as it was located within the community of Colvin Run, VA. Addison Millard and several of his neighbors formed an association and decided to purchase 1 acre of land on Hunter Mill Road to be used as a community cemetery. On August 11, 1925, some of the surviving charter members met with some of the lot owners and decided to rename their organization the Brown's Chapel Cemetery Association. The Brown's Chapel Church was only a short distance away on Hunter Mill Road and the community had grown considerably since the cemetery founding in 1887. In 1930, Herbert Brown, a local neighbor and landowner, donated 2 acres of his land on Leesburg Pike to the Brown's Chapel Cemetery Association to be used for future burials. The cemeteries were then referred to as Brown's Chapel #1 (Hunter Mill Road) and Brown's Chapel #2 (Leesburg Pike). Today, after its founding in 1887, many of the original residents, their families, and extended relatives are buried here. In addition, there are many veterans from all our nations wars (Civil, WW1, WW2, Korea, Vietnam) interred at the Brown's Chapel cemeteries.
At Brown's Chapel Cemetery, we understand how important a burial is to the family, relatives, and friends of the deceased. We always coordinate with the family and funeral homes to make sure that any graveside service and burial go smoothly and according to plan. We respect a family's right to grieve and you will not be rushed or hurried to leave the cemetery after the service. In addition, we are mindful of the fact that this is the final resting place for your relative and a place where future generations can visit their ancestors. We, the members of the Brown's Chapel Cemetery Association, strive to provide a peaceful and pleasant setting for your loved ones' final resting place.
We are a small cemetery, but that is our strength. We are able to get to know many of the lot owners and develop a closer relationship that is not possible with a larger cemetery. We are able to accommodate most reasonable requests and will work with you to achieve the best result. Lots are currently available for sale and we would be happy to discuss this with you. Please call any of the phone numbers listed above or contact either of the e-mails listed and we will respond to your requests promptly. Thank you for your interest in Brown's Chapel Cemetery.
Sincerely,
Fred Rita, Manager
